Chapter 18: The Yips
The word “yips” strikes fear into the hearts of many golfers. Most avid golfers know someone who has the dreaded condition and fear they will get it too. Many golfing careers have been ruined by the yips.
A quarter of the players we tested had some kind of involuntary yip-like
movement in their chipping or putting stroke. This means that hundreds of
thousands of golfers around the world are simply beating their heads against the
wall when they take conventional lessons. They'll never get any better until
they recognize this problem and treat it the right way.

How Common Are the Yips?
The yips are not rare. Studies have shown that the yips primarily affect older golfers who have played a lot of golf, but the yips can strike at any age.
