What is EFT?
A simple definition of EFT is do-it-yourself psychological acupressure. Acupressure uses pressure, rubbing, massaging, or tapping on the acupuncture points instead of inserting needles. Acupuncture is the main therapeutic technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years in China and has received widespread attention in recent years in Western science. It has received endorsement for treating a number of different conditions by the World Health Organization and, in the United States, the National Institutes of Health. Western scientists and medical researchers don’t understand how acupuncture and acupressure work, but they have acknowledged that it does work. The research is pretty strong and my own research backs that up. My conclusion is that these procedures do in fact work and, when used properly, they are indeed powerful healing interventions.
Acupuncture and acupressure claim to treat "chi," reported to be the fundamental "energy" that underlies all physical and mental processes. Martial artists explain that they can perform such amazing feats as breaking bricks with their bare hand or head by focusing the energy of chi.
EFT claims to be a tool for clearing blocks to the smooth flow of chi. I don't know if any of this is true. What I do know is, if you apply the procedures as prescribed, you get results. You often get results when nothing else works.
