Follow-up on Charles Barkley

I was unable to contact Charles Barkley directly but I did contact the producer of the Haney Project. He asked that I send him a copy of EFT and Golf: The New Mental Game Manual and he would personally deliver it to Barkley. Maybe Barkley will finally get help with his yips.

Greg Norman

If you follow golf, you surely know of Greg Norman’s unexpected superb play at the British Open last year. He tied for third after being the 54-hole leader by two strokes. He set a record in becoming the oldest 54-hole leader (age 53) in a major championship.   This year he plans to play the British Open, the Senior British Open, and the US Senior Open, all in a span of three weeks! I think he has a good chance to win one of these tournaments. Norman told me he has read my book. He now has some extra mental game tools to use.

Simple EFT

Sometimes a golfer will ask me the best way to introduce the EFT tapping to a friend or relative. They want others to enjoy the increase in golfing satisfaction that they have experienced. They could give them a copy of my book.

Here’s another way. Model the behavior. In other words, tap on the course any time you mis-hit, feel doubt or tension, or any uncomfortable feeling. (If you’re self-conscious about tapping in front of others, see chapter 5 of EFT and Golf.) They will ask you what you are doing. Tell them it helps you relax. Just keep tapping. They will eventually ask you to show them how to do that “tapping thing.” (Then give them the book.) This works a lot better than trying to persuade someone to try EFT. It will also provide you an opportunity to neutralize negative emotions on the spot. We often forget to tap when we should.

Yes, even I forget and I wrote the book. My wife has been known to remind me to tap when something upsets me. This upsets me even more! So I have to tap on being irritated at my wife for telling me to tap, then tap on the original upset! Isn’t it great to be human?

Your Mental Game Tip

Decide that you will tap on the course at every opportunity. This will give you the ability to handle any situation that causes discomfort of any kind. This will prevent you from accumulating emotional baggage. This will automatically neutralize past emotional events that are being triggered – some you may not even be consciously aware of. You will be modeling tapping for others to copy. (See Simple EFT above). This is a great way to gradually strengthen your mental game and reduce stress in your life. See chapter 20 of EFT and Golf  for pointers.

Questions and Comments

I welcome questions and comments from readers and will try to answer as many as I can. You can send me a question or comment at questions and comments. (This should work now.)

Question: If I have a pain on one side of my body, do I have to tap on that side?

The quick answer is, it doesn’t matter. You can tap with either hand on either side regardless of which side the pain is on. I know that sounds strange, but it works. The energy meridians are cross-connected as is the nervous system. Brain imaging studies have shown that when an acupuncture point is stimulated on one side of the body, the corresponding brain region is activated on both sides of the brain. Bottom line: the body is amazing!
