Pain

Everybody experiences pain and the older we get, unfortunately, the more likely we are to have pain. Pain will affect your golf game. Pain will affect your swing; pain will affect your stamina. If you're limping around the course, you will not have as much stamina. Pain is, of course, a warning sign that something in the body needs attention. But once you've attended to it, you don't need the pain signal anymore.

If you’ve been to a doctor and he/she says you have some inflammation and tells you to take some ibuprofen and ice it, then you have attended to that pain. If it’s OK to take ibuprofen and ice it, then there’s no reason not to tap on it. Anytime you have pain that's affecting your swing, you can always tap on it rather than take the drugs. How do you do that? Let’s say your elbow hurts. “Even though I have this pain in my right elbow, I deeply and completely accept myself.” “This pain in my elbow” would be the reminder phrase.

Also, pain always affects flexibility. Tapping on the pain will increase flexibility. I have seen some amazing results with tapping on pain where people regain mobility of a joint within minutes.

 

If you experience pain while playing, regardless of the cause, immediately tap on it. Focus on the pain and tap. We have many reports of injuries quickly healing, seemingly on the spot. We even have reports of swelling going down within minutes of tapping.

Pain also affects your mental game. If you're in pain, it's hard to focus on your golf shots. For more information on how physical factors affect the mental game, see Chapter 10 of EFT and Golf.
